The space

A very private, tastefully appointed, luxurious villa in a great location with high-end entertainment systems and many luxury inclusions. Rated 5-stars from every guest. The entire interior, including the kitchen and all the bedrooms, have just been freshly repainted. The living areas are open plan with high 6.5m architecturally designed ceilings, beautifully decorated with local artworks and open on two sides to the tropical gardens and pool. A fully equipped kitchen includes designer flatware and glassware, large double-sided fridge/freezer with ice-maker, coffee maker, unlimited hot and cold distilled water dispenser, microwave, toaster oven, blender, rice cooker and gas hob.

The kitchen bar features vintage style bar stools and hanging pendant copper light fittings. The dining area is dominated by a large solid wood slab table that comfortably seats 6 with a huge hand-beaten copper lampshade suspended 3m from the rafters. A guest bathroom is discretely located off the dining room.

The lounge area has modular, comfortable couches, a 55-inch Samsung 4K Ultra HD Smart LED Curved Screen TV, WiFi, Netflix, Youtube and satellite channels. Waterproof UE Megaboom Bluetooth speakers provide outstanding sound for lazy days around the pool. The entire villa is covered by a commercial-grade router ensuring excellent 25mbs WiFi coverage throughout the property. The living areas open onto the lush, landscaped gardens, 9x6m swimming pool and sunbathing deck with poolside loungers and bean bags.

The pool has steps leading to a shallow end around waist-high, sloping down to a depth of 175cm. Because the pool has infinity edges it cannot be fenced if you have children. Many villas in Seminyak are shaded from high walls or double-story buildings. We get all-day sun year-round on the pool for a guaranteed Bali tan. Complimentary pool towels are provided and there is even an outdoor shower in the garden. Giant pool toys are available from the local supermarket and we can arrange to buy them for you if required. We have twin massage beds on a separate deck beside the pool, making it easy to experience a luxuriating Balinese massage in the privacy of your own villa by professional therapists from our favourite spa at low, local prices.

On either side of the massage deck are 2 semi-detached bedrooms, with the master bedroom in a detached building on the other side of the pool. None of the bedrooms has adjoining walls, ensuring privacy for all. The 3 spacious bedrooms are equipped with super comfortable king-size beds, quality linen, oversized extra pillows, brand new powerful air-conditioning, ceiling fan, black-out curtains, built-in wardrobes and drawers and feature 6.5m high Balinese timber ceilings.

Each bedroom has a large, high-quality, anchored security safe with digital keypad large enough to store laptops and bulky camera equipment. Bedroom 1 has a brand new Samsung 43-inch HD Smart WiFi TV, bedroom 2 has a brand new 55-inch 4K HD Smart WiFi TV and both have Netflix, Youtube and Indovision satellite channels. Bedroom 3 has a 32-inch LG Flatscreen TV with Indovision satellite channels.

Each of the ensuites features an outdoor shower, large marble bathtub and come equipped with towels, blow-dryer, complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner, mosquito spray, spare toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hand-wash.

In-house services

The villa has housekeeping service daily and is spotlessly cleaned by our experienced and trustworthy staff, with beds made every day and kitchen cleaned so you don’t have to lift a domestic finger. Towels and linens are changed every 3 days, or more frequently if necessary by arrangement.

The complimentary breakfast includes smoothie bowls made with fresh fruit, yoghurt and granola, toast, eggs, tea and coffee (anything extra can be supplied at guest cost) and is served in the dining room of the villa every morning. We have a breakfast upgrade with traditional Indonesian dishes nasi goreng (fried rice) or mie goreng (fried noodles) for Rp60k per person (all guests must be included). One day’s notice is required. You can arrange breakfast for a time that suits you, and if you have any special requests we will do our best to please.

If you don’t feel like venturing out for meals we provide an in-house dinner service with a set-price, fixed menu with a choice of 3 dishes from Indonesian and local specialities like beef rendang, kare ayam (chicken curry), sate ayam (grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce), babi kecap (pork braised in sweet soy sauce), soto ayam (chicken soup), bebek goreng (fried duck) and spiced pumpkin soup, accompanied by steamed rice and sautéed green vegetables. The cost is dependent on the number of guests booked at the villa. IDR 1.4 million for 2 guests, 1.6 million for 3-4 guests and 1.8 million for 5-6 guests. Two days notice is required to allow enough time for sourcing the best local ingredients.

For groceries, we can either provide you with a shopping service (just tell us what you want in advance and our staff will do the shopping for you) or you can shop for yourself at the local supermarket 8 mins walk or a short taxi ride away. We provide a local laundry service for guests at the cost of IDR20k per kilo. The laundry service we use means you can get clothes cleaned and returned in 2 days at local prices.

We provide services using local providers to ensure that you enjoy affordable luxury while supporting the local community. Each evening the staff will light over a dozen citronella candles in locally made lanterns of different shapes and colours creating a romantic, serene ambience. It is quite an experience to arrive home after sunset to a candle-lit villa. Our mission is for you to relax and enjoy, either lounging around by the pool, relaxing with a massage, or going on excursions to the beautiful countryside, waterfalls, rice fields and markets that Bali has to offer.

We can arrange a private driver and car and local prices – simply contact the owner after making a booking. If you would like to indulge in a rose petal bath, staff can arrange the petals and light the lanterns for you. If you want to indulge yourself in affordable luxury, Villa Koru is for you.

Guest access

Guests have complete access to the entire villa – it is very private and solely for your own use – consider it your own luxury hotel.

Other things to note

Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out up until 11 am. If you would like to arrange an early check-in (available from 8 am) or a late check-out (available until 10 pm) then please ask after booking. If there is availability I will block out the villa the day before, or after, for a fee of 50% of the daily rate which you can pay after arrival.

You will then have uninterrupted and exclusive use of the villa from your early arrival or up until your late-night flight. Unlike most villas, we have an industrial diesel-driven power generator in the unlikely event a power outage occurs. Our staff are trained in its use, and should a power cut happen they will be on hand at short notice to keep things running smoothly. Our experience is that power cuts only happen 3-4 times a year for a couple of hours at the most. The personal touches our guests love come from an owner who has travelled extensively, knows Bali exceptionally well and understands that the little things make all the difference between an OK holiday and a memorable experience.
